Wellow Wind Farm

Scale of Development
6 turbines, either 100 or 111 metres tall, as follows:

  1. 111 metres (364 ft) tall – base set at ~50 metres above sea level
  2. 100 metres (328 ft) tall – base set at ~60 metres above sea level
  3. 100 metres (328 ft) tall – base set at ~60 metres above sea level
  4. 100 metres (328 ft) tall – base set at ~60 metres above sea level
  5. 111 metres (364 ft) tall – base set at ~45 metres above sea level
  6. 100 metres (328 ft) tall – base set at ~60 metres above sea level
Location
  • South of Wellow/Thorley, north of Broad Lane (see map for more detail)
  • Turbine 1 would be most westerly location, through to number 6, the most easterly
Low Output
  • 2.5 to 3.0 MegaWatts (at 25% to 30% annual average output)
  • Compared to other power stations (Source DTI – May 2005):
    • Didcot A (1,925 MW – gas/coal) has capacity for 640 times this output
    • Fawley (484 MW - oil) has capacity for 160 time this output
    • Sloy (152MW - hydro) has capacity for 50 time this output
