PLANNING REFUSAL WILL NOT GO TO APPEAL
REF: xxxx
Friday, May 18, 2007

Thursday 17 May 2007

Your Energy Ltd (YEL) announced today that they would not appeal against the IW Council’s unanimous decision to refuse planning permission for six 100 metre wind turbines at Wellow.

IHowever, YEL said that it would continue to review options for a wind farm on the Island. In an interview on Solent TV Managing Director Richard Mardon stated that the financial case was being reviewed, and depending on the outcome of that analysis YEL might make a renewed planning application for 3 turbines at Wellow. He added that if a further application was made it would be submitted before the end of the year.

In a press release ThWART said that it welcomed the news that the IW Council’s unanimous decison for refusal was not going to be taken to an appeal.

‘Your Energy’s comment that it will “continue to review options for a wind farm on the Island” means that ThWART will await clarification and remain organised and active.’

ThWART spokesman Ray Tucker added: ‘ A lot of my work has been concentrating on renewable energy, and an 18-month biomass crop trial in the West Wight, which is halfway through, is looking promising.’
